A few days ago I shared in this post how I just love cozy scarves this time of year. Not only do I love the color and pattern they add to any outfit, but they’re also so versatile and there are so many different ways to style them to create different looks using some of the same pieces in your wardrobe! Today I wanted to share how to style a blanket scarf, and highlight a few of my favorite ways that I wear my blanket scarves during the fall/winter!

I recently purchased this buffalo check scarf, one of my favorite patterns during the holiday season, and I have had so much fun finding different ways to wear it! I just love this cozy scarf, and by styling it different ways, maybe no one will notice that I’ve been wearing it on repeat 😉 ha! There is nothing better than finding just one essential piece, and getting a lot of mileage and many looks out of it…especially when it’s under $50!

These are a few of my favorite ways to style a blanket scarf:

Belt it! This might be my current favorite way to wear my blanket scarves! I’m just obsessed with how chic, yet cozy this look is with a festive scarf, my favorite leather belt, and a pair of pretty boots! If your scarf is a large square, fold it in half to make a triangle and drape over your shoulders with the tails in front. If it’s a longer rectangle like this buffalo check one, just drape of your shoulders with the tails in front! You could do this with any pattern scarf, your favorite belt, add extra cozy touches like a beanie/shearling boots, or dress it up with heels! I’ve gotten so much wear out of this Gucci belt, and this is my favorite way to wear it currently. I love the rustic glam feel this look has for the Christmas season!

– Wear as a wrap! A blanket scarf is one of the best things to have on hand whether you’re traveling, going out to dinner or the movies, or just to keep in your bag for when you get chilly! This look is so effortless with just a simple long sleeve tee or even a pretty cable knit sweater underneath, your favorite blanket scarf wrapped around your shoulders, and some fun accessories! You could easily dress this look up to go out to dinner or to a holiday party, or make it as casual as you want. If you’re going somewhere that you don’t want to wear a coat, or don’t want to cover your outfit, but just need an extra layer to cover your arms, this is the perfect solution! They’re perfect for traveling to keep in your carry-on or to wear, since they can be part of your outfit, or literally used as a blanket on a cold plane, ha! I also love how wrapping up in a blanket scarf can instantly complete your outfit, or add a festive feel for the holidays with a plaid or check scarf like this!

– Worn around your neck! This may seem like the obvious way to style a scarf, but there is probably 100+ fun ways to tie your blanket scarf! You can twist it to create a braided look, tie it in all sorts of knots, leave the tails long, or wrap them up inside each other to really bundle it up around your neck, etc! If you want me to show you some of my favorite ways to tie my blanket scarves, just LMK and I’d love to share some on my Instagram Stories or YouTube! Blanket scarves are the perfect thing to pair with all of your cardigans and coats to create multiple outfits with just a few of your favorite pieces. I love  switching up how I tie my scarf depending on what I’m wearing, and what look I want to have!

Blanket scarves like this one that have a reverse side are twice as fun because you get two scarves in one! You can wear it completely on the reverse side for a whole different look, but I also love the the pattern play and dimension it adds having two patterns mixed! I also recently purchased the cutest thiscolorful, striped blanket scarf, worn in post, and I don’t think I’ll ever run out of ways to style it with all of the colors in it! Try some of these styles with any of your favorite blanket scarves, and I’ve linked a few of my favs down below to shop for yourself, or for the perfect Christmas gift!
